So guys, I’m 30! If you would have told me 10 years ago that I’d be where I am now I would have thought you were insane! There’s nothing like hitting a new milestone to make you think about your life so far. Let’s just say throughout my teens and 20’s the goal wasn’t ever to get married and have kids. Like ever. I remember countless times telling people it was okay to sweep my feet because I thought, marriage? me? um no! HA! I guess that’s why they always tell you, “Never Say Never”, thanks Biebs! Ben had an exciting birthday this past weekend. The big 3-0 and I was getting the impression he wasn’t too excited about it. I will be turning 30 as well this month and I guess I can see why he might have mixed feelings about it. I mean, you start to question where you are in life and depending on if you had a different picture in your mind you can definitely get a little bummed. So what do you do when your husband is having mixed feelings about turning 30 and what he has done with his life so far? Continue reading “Ben turns 30”
Ben and I will celebrate our first wedding anniversary this weekend. I can’t help but feel like the past year and our relationship in general have flown by. Reflecting on our whole time together lately and getting really excited about where we are in our relationship.
We have been through so much in the past 4 years and one thing I’ve realized is that challenging moments will happen. We’ve gotten through small disagreements, big disagreements, two stressful cross-country moves, first parent realities and difficulties, sleepless exhausted nights, not to mention making it work on a single person salary in one of the most expensive cities in the world. I mean, I can go on and on. Ups and downs will happen and I guess you expect that going into a relationship and a marriage but now in this moment, I REALLY know it.
Another thing I’ve realized about our marriage is something no one really told me going into it. Marriage is fun. Being married to Ben is so much fun. I think it has so much to do with the fact that I really like Ben as a person. Aside from being a very devoted father and supportive husband, he’s genuinely a good person with a big heart.
As many difficult moments we have experienced the last few years we have had so many moments where we have laughed uncontrollably to the point of crying, so many road trips and vacations, we’ve had one beautiful daughter who teaches us daily that life is full of joy, we’ve walked countless miles, drank a lot of wine and watched a lot of Netflix, specifically HIMYM! I love that Ben goes through phases with growing his hair and beard and looks like a completely different person in between. I love that he always comes home full of energy for Penny even when he’s had a long day. I love that he let’s me sleep in on his days off and makes french toast for breakfast because he knows I like them. He cleans the coffee maker when I forget and pinches my butt whenever I’m next to him. He tells me I’m hot even when I’ve been rocking the same top knot for 2 days. I’m sure Ben and I will continue to face challenges in our future but I’m even more sure we will get through it.
Now for the really hard question. How should we celebrate our first wedding anniversary? Should we get in our wedding attire and bar hop the streets of Brooklyn like we did on our wedding night? And then come back home and eat our left over wedding cake we have in our freezer? Ha! Below are some fun pictures from our wedding.

Our family recently took an unexpected trip to Washington DC. It was a gloomy Tuesday morning, a few weeks ago and we all had a late start to the day. Penny slept in and we were having breakfast by noon. We wanted to get out of the house and start our day. Especially since Ben was going back to work that Friday. We saw it was raining so that pretty much scratched our outdoor plans. So where do you go when it’s raining and you don’t want to be home? Duh, TARGET! Continue reading “Poes do Washington DC”
It’s hard to believe our Aruba trip came and went. We planned this vacation 2 years ago when we lived in Arizona; Penny was only 6 months old. I remember thinking, Penny will be 2 years old when we take this trip, she will need a passport, oh crap she is going to need her own plane ticket! Nevertheless, the day finally came! The weeks before were a little anxious for me trying to do everything in my power to be fully prepared to be gone for a week and make sure Penny would be set. Making sure we were fully prepared for the flight was probably our biggest concern. But she was amazing! Continue reading “Poes do Aruba: 7 days on the happiest island”
