Tis’ the season for pumpkin overload and you know what? I’m diggin’ it! I absolutely love this season and all the flavors that come along with it. After being obsessed with Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte for many years, I was determined to make a dairy and refined sugar-free version I can enjoy more often and at home. I found Frontier Co-op’s Pumpkin Pie Spice at Whole Foods and I’ve been sprinkling it on EVERYTHING! Feel free to adjust the sweetness to your liking. Let me know if you try it!

By now I’m sure you’ve heard of Matcha and how many people have been making it their go to drink. I am definitely one of them and for many reasons including the fact that I’ve been drinking coffee regularly since I was a freshman in high school. Yes, high school! Of course back then my coffee order was always light and sweet. I’m still a big coffee drinker but now I take it unsweetened and alternate with drinking Matcha instead some days. I stopped drinking cows milk last year and replaced it with almond milk. Afterwards I became more aware of all the different milk options and OMG! I mean the list goes on and on. Did you know you can basically make milk out of any nut? Awesome right!? The variety of different flavors you can create are endless. After seeing oat milk for sale at my local supermarket and reading the label I was determined to make my own. 20 grams of sugar per cup is a little much for me. Growing up I always loved smoothies! Of course back then they were loaded with sugar and ice cream and anything else that would fit in my Oyster blender. Now I love making them for Penny who loves them as well. Now I know better than to add a heaping spoon full of sugar to my smoothies or smoothie bowls because duh, fruit is naturally sweet! Making smoothie bowls has got to be the easiest and most deceiving way I add hidden veggies and superfoods into Penny’s “ice cream”. I’m not sure when she will realize that what mommy makes at home is not ice cream but hey, I’m going to ride this out as long as I can!
